paid tesol placement in china

Picture
Our teaching internship program attracts participants of varied age and nationality, English speakers from across the globe with a common interest in experiencing and enjoying the unique culture and sights of China.  The internship attracts a large number of student and gap-year travellers, with the majority of interns under 30, though we do also have participants in their 30s and 40s joining the program.

Your accommodation will usually be an apartment shared with another participant of the same gender, with your meals taken at the school canteen – the quality and variety of food on offer is excellent, you certainly won’t go hungry !

As part of the ongoing support and guidance offered throughout your stay, you have access to academic support, teaching ideas and resources as well as 24/7 emergency assistance.

You’ll start your stay in China with a 5 day Orientation & Induction program consisting of a thorough cultural and practical orientation to China and conversational Mandarin lessons to help you get by.  The comprehensive orientation program teaches you Chinese customs and culture with lots of fun group activities.  You’ll also enjoy a day of sightseeing around Beijing city and out to the Great Wall !

An industry-standard 120-hour theoretical TESOL/TEFL course, completed online before you leave home, is complemented by practical teaching practice during your first week in China.  You’ll also have ample opportunity to learn from our team of former interns in China, gaining a valuable insight from their own personal experiences.

Participants are allocated a specific work placement which takes into account your own preferences for region and student age as well as the selection criteria of the schools.  The location of your placement may be in one of many different cities across China, from Shanghai to Inner Mongolia, Shanxi to Guangxi.  You may be teaching kinder kids as young as 4, primary aged students 6 to 12 or those in high school up to age 18.

Schools in China are usually large, with between 2,000 and 5,000 students !  Many of the schools have foreign teachers and existing programs, but there are schools in China that are totally new to the concept.

Weekends are yours to relax or to explore, and given that your main living expenses are taken care of already your monthly salary/allowance of RMB 2,000 (approx. $400) is all yours to spend on travel and entertainment – it may not sound a lot, but it goes a long way in China.  A bonus of RMB 4,500 (approx. $950) is paid after successful completion of your placement, at which time you will also receive your internationally recognised TESOL/TEFL certificate, the key to further paid teaching jobs.
