Discover the sights and sounds of off-the-beaten-track regional Thailand and add your efforts to projects which make a difference to the lives of village communities.
Two great locations - two ways of helping Thai kids. Choose island life in Koh Samui or the laid-back pace of the regional city of Surin.
Choose to work with younger kids at a village daycare centre or help teach English to primary school children.
The Koh Samui program supports an underprivileged fishing and farming community a world away from the tourist hotspots. The centre provides teaching and childcare enabling parents and family members to work during the day whilst the school supports approximately 200 children.
In Surin, experience an exciting and rewarding opportunity in a rural Thai school or kindergarten.
If teaching, the focus of your classes will be to encourage the children to have fun learning English. You will be supported by a bilingual coordinator and working in small groups you will plan and teach English lessons for students’ aged 5 -16. You will be responsible for planning your own lessons but will be provided a textbook to follow. Don’t worry you’ll have plenty of time to get prepared and will be given advice and lesson materials to help you with your planning.
You may be expected to spend a short time each day interacting with the children outside of formal classes. Volunteers are encouraged to be creative and have fun planning additional activities such as arts and crafts as well as songs and games or even sports. Your Coordinator will help you liaise with school staff to structure your activities as well as provide translation.
