The year-round Malawi Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer program is your chance to be part of a conservation revolution in one of Africa's most beautiful and compact countries. Malawi has an incredible diversity of wild animals and habitats but is facing huge threats which include deforestation, pollution, poaching and climate change. This award-winning wildlife rescue centre works at the forefront of many of these challenges, so whether you’re working with our rescued animals or contributing to wildlife research, this is your chance to make a real difference to the conservation bigger picture. You’ll join a friendly team of Malawian and international professionals with expertise in animal care and conservation.
Your specific tasks will vary according to the types of animals being cared for at any particular time, but you can expect to get involved in most aspects of our animal rehabilitation work, including animal husbandry (cleaning, sanitation, feeding and enrichment), orphan care, observations and integrations.
Combine your sanctuary-based volunteer program with 2 weeks or more of wildlife research based in stunning Liwonde National Park, an outstanding opportunity to experience safari-style field work with iconic African species in a beautiful natural environment.
