ItineraryOur journey will take us through a variety of (malaria-free) settings including game reserves, rescue centres, sanctuaries, and national parks in South Africa. Each location offers a unique glimpse into the country's wildlife and conservation efforts, providing an incomparable learning and working environment.
Prepare to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of South Africa, where each day brings new adventures and invaluable experiences in wildlife care and conservation. Due to the nature of working with wildlife, the range of activities and wildlife experiences may vary and plans may be adapted as we go, however an example program outline is as follows: Sunday Airport pick up and transfer to the Sanctuary (approx. 2 hours). Please note the transfer departs Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport no later than 0900. Overnight airport hotel options available from AUD $75 per person if required. Relax and settle in, briefing, welcome dinner and campfire.
Monday Rhino Sanctuary introduction session, general safety briefing, rhino calf feeds, rhino care, rhino monitoring, inpatient sanctuary treatment plans, etc. Tuesday Rhino reproduction work – possible Oocyte / semen collection, procedure in the field. Anti–poaching experience inc K9 team. Wednesday Elephant introduction and understanding, health check and captive care Thursday Monkey Sanctuary visit - assist with daily upkeep, feed, monitoring and treatment as required Friday Local vet clinic surgical and assistance Saturday Shopping day and at leisure Sunday Visit to Big 5 game reserve, inc safari game drive Monday Antelope work with Vet inc possible relocation. Accommodation and Meals Participants will be housed in shared, single gender bunk rooms, spacious and comfortable. All required linen is provided. We maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety for both the sleeping quarters and bathroom facilities, ensuring a secure and comfortable shared environment throughout your stay.
We provide the food ingredients which the group will self-cater. We will guide the group on meal suggestions, and at times we will even do the cooking. We make certain there is always sufficient diversity of fresh food and a well stocked freezer, suitable for individual participants with specific dietary needs. |
