Program options
Create your own, personal volunteering adventure. All options are available to mix and match in blocks of 1 week according to your interests. Teaching Participants will be assigned to a local community school where you will assist the teacher and you may be in charge of some of the lesson planning for the class. Sports, games and singing are all popular among the younger students. A teaching background is not essential at all, the entire purpose of this program is to provide any assistance possible, whether it is simply allowing children to hear English pronunciation by native English speakers or providing additional assistance with other academic subjects. Kindergarten Assist local staff in the day-to-day operations of a childcare facility. You will work with daycare and preschool kids aged between 6 months and 6 years old, either in a government or charity-run daycare. Your main purpose will be to communicate with the children using English and teaching them the language in a fun way. Tasks range in from organising classes, playing games and guiding activities to feeding and general childcare. Building for Communities Participants will be assigned tasks ranging from light cleaning, cement mixing, and painting to more difficult tasks such as plastering and roofing repair. Participants will be closely instructed and supervised by our coordinator, who has extensive construction experience. While no special construction qualifications or experience are required, you'll need energy and endurance. Empowerment of Women Participate in a local initiative that works with over 50 female-led self-help groups. This program is intended to assist underprivileged women in the Nakuru area who have not had access to basic education. You will help these women become more self-sufficient and prepare for a brighter future, learning business skills, reproductive health, leadership and much more. Creativity and a positive, easy going attitude are extremely beneficial in engaging with these women. |
