The Turtle conservation project is located on the gorgeous island of Nusa Penida, a 45 minute speedboat ride from mainland Bali. Here in paradise you will work alongside the local team and a large group of international volunteers to and help protect the endangered sea turtles of Indonesia.
You will contribute to turtle conservation by working at our turtle centre feeding the turtles, cleaning the tanks, catching live food for the turtles and also cleaning the beach. Additionally you may be identifying turtle species, collecting eggs, monitoring nests or helping hatchlings get safely out to sea.
Your Bali experience starts with a fun-filled 5 days of exciting adventures and cultural activities from our base in Ubud, before heading to the turtles from week 2 onwards. Choose from Adventure Week (volcano trekking, river rafting, cycling +++) or Culture & Activities Week (temples, cooking class, traditional dance, batik art, language lessons +++). Or make the really clever decision and do both !
** If you prefer, and/or you don't have 2 weeks, then we also offer an option to go directly to Nusa Penida for turtle conservation, with a 1 week option also available **
