The Zimbabwe Wildlife Orphanage is a great option for veterinary exposure all year round. At this genuine (and very busy) rescue and rehab centre, here’s your chance to shadow (and assist with) real-world veterinary procedures. If you are a veterinary science / vet nursing / animal science / conservation / zoology student, a vet nurse or pre-vet then you may experience wildlife rescues and captures, immobilisations, translocations, de-worming and vaccinations, spay and neuter, medical procedures, microchipping...... One of Africa’s largest and most successful wildlife rehabilitation and release centres, wherever possible any rescued animals and birds are rehabilitated and returned to the wild. If safe release into their natural habitat is not possible though, and for those animals and birds which have little hope for survival in the wild, the orphanage here is a haven, a forever home where they will receive the best of care. Captive residents here are animals which have been orphaned, abandoned, injured, seized or born in captivity and the sanctuary is often the last refuge for animals or birds brought in sick, injured or confiscated.
