"The 13 day Cape Town to Windhoek tour was amazing, we were so lucky to have such a fantastic group of people to travel with, we now have a new family of people all over the world. The guides were great, so friendly, helpful, happy and knowledgeable men. Every activity we did was fantastic, Etosha National Park for us was a highlight, just mind blowing. The camp grounds were fantastic, clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour." Taneil & Damien 02 OCT 2018
Iconic Cape Town is a glorious place to start any African odyssey. With the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain appearing to rise from the Atlantic Ocean, the very special city of Cape Town has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. From here we travel across South Africa to the spectacular Fish River Canyon before crossing into neighbouring Namibia. Here we explore the empty desert scenery, nothing but endless horizons and vast expanses of night stars. We go where giant sand dunes merge with the ocean, take time out in the adventure capital of Swakopmund, then venture on safari in Etosha, “the Great White Place”, where the fireside tales will be of lion, rhino, elephant and much more. With seamless transfers at either end, this trip is the perfect accompaniment to our volunteer projects in Namibia (African Wildlife Sanctuary) and in Cape Town (Outreach through Surfing / Helping Kids in a Township Kinder).
Transport
Our overland vehicles are custom built converted trucks that have seating space for our passengers and a storage area for luggage and all trip equipment. We carry all the equipment necessary for camping and cooking along the way. The trucks seat up to 30 passengers on our camping trips. Most seats are forward facing, though some models have a combination of forward, backward and some inward facing seats with tables. Vehicles have sliding glass windows, and the seating area is raised providing a great advantage for game viewing and photography. Seats are cushioned and there is storage space for personal items like cameras, snacks and day packs in the seating area. Participation on tour This is a participation trip meaning that all passengers are expected to help out around camp. The crew members running the trip will set up a rota system that will be followed. One day you may be on cleaning duty, the next day you may be on cooking duty and so forth. This is not only to make the trip easier for all involved but also for you as the passengers to get to know one another while on trip. |
Trip highlights
Camping tours are adventurous in nature, we generally carry clients who enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind a little discomfort in exchange for seeing and doing a lot of activities in a short period of time. Our trips are all group tours so clients must be comfortable sharing their space and experiences with other like-minded travellers who are from various parts of the world.
Accommodation We spend each night in a secure campsite where you will be required to put up & down your own tent. There are a wide range of great campsites in Africa, many with activities, bars, restaurants and excellent facilities. Some campsites may not have a shower or a beer available, though most have running water - whether it is hot or cold, respectively, is another matter! Sometimes conditions can be challenging – it may be dusty or rainy, it can get exceedingly hot or very cold – come prepared for the respective season you’re travelling in and you’ll have little to worry about. Meals Menus vary as food is purchased en-route, and is subject to produce that is available seasonally in the areas we travel through. As we support the local communities along the way, fresh produce is mostly purchased direct from the producer or local grower and therefore has an organic appearance. Our safari cooks are able to offer a wide variety of menus with the ingredients available |
