The Zambia Wildlife Veterinary Experience gives participants the exciting opportunity to shadow wildlife vets and conservationists during their daily work in the field.
Activities will mainly consist of darting ops and game capture (like boma mass capture) on the reserve, but also in other reserves and parks in Zambia and possibly even in neighbouring countries.
This is a seasonal program, operating only during April, May, June and September - the key wildlife-work periods of the year - and we limit each period to a maximum 3 participants to give each participant an optimal learning experience. Therefore early booking is essential in order to secure a spot.
There is no predetermined program, but your stay is certain to be filled with exciting experiences. As part of the WCS team (Wildlife Conservation Services) team you will take part in any and all work that spontaneously arises during your stay. WCS is responsible for all medical veterinary care, preventive veterinary operations (vaccinating, deworming, etc) and translocation of wildlife on and between reserves (and countries !).
The duration of the externship will be between 2 and 4 weeks, to guarantee an optimal learning experience.
