The historic and beautiful city of Cusco was the capital of the famous Inca Empire, and now commands its place at the centre of cultural tourism in Peru. But many families live in poverty in the suburbs.
Volunteers are needed to help out in community daycare centres for underprivileged kids in Cusco - general childcare duties, with volunteers involved in play, songs, art, dance, sports and games, assisting with mealtimes and homework.
You'll be placed at one of two community Mother’s Associations who support a large number of mothers in the area, providing care for their children when they are at work. “Little Doves” kinder takes care of around 35 children, aged between 3 and 5 years old and “Dawn” day-care looks after 30-40 children aged between 5 and 12 years old.
