"10/10 The entire experience was hands on from beginning to end, I honestly can’t recommend this program enough !”Nikita
Our major wildlife partner in Namibia recently took over the management of the country’s oldest wildlife sanctuary at Harnas and with it gained a licence for a new veterinary clinic at this reserve. With a large number of resident animals to care for and a number of key veterinary projects already in the schedule for 2024, we’re delighted to offer two brand new 2-week Wildlife Veterinary Experiences at Harnas, delivered by the exact same team as our original and hugely popular veterinary program (which itself is fully booked until mid 2025).
This special veterinary experience is designed for students or professionals in the fields of veterinary, vet nursing or animal sciences or pre-vets wishing to gain more insight into the world of veterinary care at an African wildlife sanctuary. That said, there are no prerequisites to join this program. Just 10 spots are available in each group, so be quick !
Participants can expect to be trained for wildlife capture, anaesthesia and health checks:
participating in the capture and anaesthesia of resident animals
classes and presentations
sampling and health checks
daily veterinary activities performed by our wildlife veterinarians and on an ad hoc basis, participating in other veterinary activities that may arise. This may include the capture and movement of wild animals or collaring of wild caught predators.
